Devin Booker makes a free throw following a called away-of-the-play foul on Christian Brown late in the third quarter of Tuesday’s pivotal Game 5 between the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets. Sands huddled as he prepared to shoot. As the Phoenix began to crowd in, Nuggets guard Bruce Brown and superstar center Nikola Jokic tried to sneak into the group, to the dismay of Kevin Durant and Jock Lundale.
Durant swept Brown, who was curled up on the other side of the crowd. Randale then came into Durant’s sight and fended off Jokic, who received his forearm in the chest from the dominant scoring wing. At that point, Jokic embellished contact, brandishing his arm and tripping backwards. Technical fouls were issued against both Brown and Durant, but Durant didn’t seem to agree.
As TNT color commentator Grant Hill alluded to, this is a game involving two consecutive extracurricular flops between these teams. In Game 4 on Sunday, Jokic extended a forearm to Suns owner Matt’s Ishubia chest in an attempt to capitalize on his 5-4 advantage by inbounding a ball that flowed into the stands. The two reconciled before Game 5, but this fun Western seems to be about flopping his life to see another game in his Conference Semifinal series.
