“Ultimately, I don’t know,” Kutcher said of Masterson’s presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
Ashton Kutcher has spoken out about the ongoing rape case of his longtime friend and ‘That ’70s Show’ co-star Danny Masterson.
Kutcher, who has also worked with Masterson on the Netflix sitcom The Ranch, hopes Masterson will “turn out to be innocent of the charges against him,” but he hopes Masterson won’t commit these crimes. Masterson was accused of sexual assault in 2017 and was charged in June 2020 with three counts of rape, allegedly committed between 2001 and 2003. That lawsuit he failed to hear in December 2022.
“At the end of the day, I don’t know,” Kutcher said. Esquire Masterson’s presumption of innocence before being proven guilty in court. Not a person, in which case I don’t have space to comment, I just don’t know.”
Kutcher added, “One day his kid will read about this…I really feel for anyone who feels violated in some way.”
The “Vengeance” and “Your Place or Mine” star recalled Masterson mentoring a young “That ’70s Show” cast member.

Masterson’s Scientology beliefs and membership were included in Leah Remini’s Scientology and Aftermath documentary. She added: You are only ordered to report to internal Scientology authorities…these women did what they were told to do. They reported the rape to internal Scientology authorities. And they weren’t just blamed or abused after they did it. They were told they had not been raped and were ordered never to use the word “rape” again…Scientology had a responsibility to report these crimes to the authorities, but they would not do so. Instead, it obscured them. Scientology should be a co-defendant in subsequent trials. “
